USATF Event Sanctions

A USATF sanction is an official designation issued by USATF, through a local Association, which approves and licenses the holding of a competitive track & field, long distance running or race walking event in the United States. The sanction is also a contract, which evidences the event's commitment to follow national and international rules and regulations of the sport and to provide a safe environment for the participants and spectators. Once the event has satisfied the sanction requirements, the event's application for sanction is approved.

USA Track & Field has the authority to sanction and provide calendar listings for organized, competitive athletics events that follow standard international or national rules. Those events include track & field, long distance running, race walking, road running, mountain, ultra and trail running. USATF is not authorized to sanction or list snowshoe running, orienteering, triathlons, duathlons, adventure races, or other multiple-sport events.

Sanctioning is a two step process. The first step is to apply for a sanction by adding the event to the USATF calendar. After submitting the form, you will receive a confirmation email with the event's ID and password. You will then be redirected to the event login screen to complete the sanctioning process. Use the event ID and password provided to you by email.
