USATF Southern California Road Running Grand Prix
The Road Mile Championships is part of the 2012 USATF Southern California Road Running Grand Prix. The Road Running Grand Prix offers opportunities for USA Track & Field members to compete at the 1 mile, 5K, 8K, 10K, 15K, half-marathon, and marathon distances in some of the best road races and fastest courses in our region. In these events, the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place finishers in 26 men’s and women’s 5-year age groups receive official USATF Association Championship medals.
In addition, $2,000 in prize money is awarded to the top-ten finishers at the end of the year, and medals are also distributed to top age-group runners. To qualify for end-of-year prize money or awards, runners must compete in a minimum of five races. If a member competes in more than five races, then the five best scores will be used for scoring.
There is also a Youth Road Running Grand Prix. To qualify for end-of-year awards, the youth members need to run in a minimum of three races. If a youth member competes in more than three races, then the three best scores will be used for scoring.
No additional entry fee is required for USATF members to participate in the Road Championship Series.
